Montreal venue presented at the

"7e Manifestation internationale vidéo et art électronique"

This multidisciplinary event at the "Grande Bibliothèque" of Montreal will consist of a two-part interactive performance transmitted via internet and in real time for the duration of the relational experience.

This action is considered a work-in-progress collaborative project in which four international teams composed of 3 to 4 artists each, will meet on-line in 4 occasions to create 4 live actions, one in each participating city. For each action the 3 "Remote Teams" will randomly select images, sounds and audio-visual content sending it as simultaneous instructions to manipulate and motivate the live physical action.

In order to begin the OrganiRandom performance, each of the remote teams will (from their respective countries) simultaneously and randomly choose 3 "Motivating Phrase" from a list previously determined collectively. These phrases will be used as motivating guidelines and or instructions during the on-line international collaborative action.

Once all the "Motivation Senteces" are received in the live-action venue, they will be read out laud to the public. The sentences and other audio material will be transmitted randomly while the performers interact one-to-one with audience and participants. During this time, the public will be invited to express positive or negative thoughts about our society, by drawing and/or writing on cardboards. This first part of the live action will be audio oriented lasting for approximately 30 minutes.

The second part of OrganiRandom, begins by directing the public to the garden area of the " Grande Bibliothèque ". 4 "referencial zones" will be delimited within the garden's physical space. The participants will be directed to one or other of these zones through response to instructions generated by the remotely located international teams. The participant's displacement through these zones will reflect their particular social relationships.

The "referential zones" will be determined by the horizontal and vertical axes of the garden. The longitudinal axis will represent the relationship between the manmade environment and Nature. The latitudinal axis will define a scale system between the positive and negative evaluation of each individual's social status.

Once everyone has positioned themselves in his or her reference zone in the garden, the final act of the performers will be announced by the Narrator who will ask them to place the cardboard messages on the walkway closest to them. Afterwards, they will be encouraged to walk around to visit and discuss the significance of the content of the drawings and texts created during the event.

This action is a work-in-progress international collective experimental project. The relational performance will be repeated three times on an international itinerary through South America . Each event will be designed by the local team and informed and adapted by the previous experiences of other actions.

Technical Requirements: A high speed internet secure and stable connection is essential for receiving and transmitting simultaneously without delay. The following is a list of basic requirements for the project: 100 Markers, 100 Cardboard Boxes, 1 High speed Internet Connection, 1 portable computer, 2 web cams, 1 Data show projectors for showing the web site. 1 Data show projectors for showing live feed. 2 Screen, 1 Sound System for Outdoor Amplification, 3 Microphone (Wireless if possible)

Para el evento multidisciplinario en la "Grande Bibliothèque " de Montreal, OrganiRandom contempla una acción de arte interactiva transmitido simultáneamente en tiempo real vía Internet que se divide en dos partes.

El proyecto se considera una acción de colaboración en donde 4 equipos internacionales compuestos de entre 3 y 5 personas, se comunican virtualmente en línea para influir en el desarrollo de la acción de cada país. Los equipos a distancia es decir "equipos virtuales" seleccionarán de manera aleatoria objetos, sonidos y otros materiales para motivar e influenciar las 4 acciones.

Para poder comenzar la primera etapa del performance de OrganiRandom los Equipos Virtuales, en sus países respectivos, simultáneamente y de manera aleatoria escogerán una "Frase Motivadora" de una lista establecida previamente por todos los participantes. Estas frases orientarán y guiarán el evento en vivo.

Una vez que estén seleccionadas las tres primeras frases, un miembro del equipo local actuará como el Narrador y comenzará a leer entre los espectadores, de manera aleatoria las frases entremezcladas con textos de su propia selección.

Paralelamente, los miembros del "Equipo Local" invitarán al público a expresar sus opinión positiva o negativa con respecto de la sociedad, mediante dibujos o textos sobre cartones previamente distribuidos por los participantes. Esta actividad tendrá una duración aproximada de 20 a 30 minutos.

La segunda parte de OrganiRandom consiste en dirigir a la gente hacia el jardín de la Biblioteca donde, a través de mensajes escritos y orales se explicará la configuración de 4 áreas de influencia. Estas áreas actuarán como guías para que las personas interpreten su mejor ubicación de ellos y sus dibujos en el jardín.

Estas zonas de influencia estarán conformadas por un axis vertical y horizontal del jardín. El axis longitudinal representara la relación entre el mundo artificial y el natural. El axis transversal definirá una rango de evaluación positiva o negativa al respecto de el estatus social de cada persona.

Una vez que las personas se hayan ubicado en su lugar de referencia en el jardín el narrador anunciará el acto final de la acción en el cual se solicitará a los participantes a depositar sus cartones en las orillas de uno de los senderos más próximos. Luego acto terminado se les invitará a recorrer el jardín para presenciar los otros dibujos y conversar con sus autores al respecto del evento y el significado de las intervenciones visuales ejecutadas sobre los cartones.

Esta obra de colaboración internacional esta concebida como un trabajo "work in progress". Estas acciones se repetirán 3 veces, en un circuito itinerante por Sud América (Urugay, Argentina y Chile)

Una conexión Internet de alta velocidad es fundamental para el correcto funcionamiento de las transmisiones simultaneas entre los distintos países.
